Solar panels installed by Bardi will provide power to your air conditioning and heating systems. When there’s no need for heating or cooling, the energy collected by the panels will automatically be diverted to power other electrical devices in your home. Utilizing solar panels can help lower your utility bills by taking advantage of the sun as a free power source. There are also environmental benefits to using solar power, such as reducing your dependence on fossil fuels and lowering your carbon footprint.
SEER is short for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, which is expressed as a number and indicates the overall efficiency of your system. Much like miles per gallon on a car, the higher the SEER rating, the greater the efficiency of the air conditioner and the less you’ll pay to keep cool. As of January 2006 the federal government has mandated that all new central air conditioning units have a SEER rating of at least 13. However, here in the southern United States, a system that is at least 16 SEER is recommended to help control humidity and keep utility bills at bay during the hot summers.
A Higher SEER rating also means you’re helping to protect the environment. Consider this: an old inefficient 8-SEER system emits 200,000 pounds of carbon dioxide in the course of its life. A 21-SEER system will emit far less, only around 50,000 pounds during a lifespan, which may be longer than that of a less efficient systems. Watch the video below about advantages of going solar:
