MYTH: Closing Air Vents Saves Energy

Closing vents in rooms you don’t use won’t stop air from entering the duct, just from entering the room, affecting the efficiency of your system, not saving energy.
MYTH: For your home to be green, you only need a high-efficiency furnace.
It doesn’t matter how efficient your furnace is if it’s heating the outside of your house. At the same time, you can take advantage of incredible tax credits on a new energy efficient system, make sure your home is insulated inside and out too. Click here to see if it is time to replace your furnace.
MYTH: When my appliance is turned off, it’s off.
Many devices use power even when they’re switched off, sometimes as much power as when they’re on! A large number of electrical products from TV’S to cell phone chargers draw power 24/7, so unplug unused appliances. Easier if you group several on one power strip.
MYTH: Buying an efficient air conditioner or furnace will automatically reduce my energy bill.
Definitely.  But to ensure all savings are realized, make sure your system is installed properly by a reputable business accredited with the Better Business Bureau. Make sure ducts and windows are airtight too.
